On April 12th, 2015, Sufjan Stevens released the EP Exploding Whale via Asthmatic Kitty Records. The release was available as both a 7-inch vinyl and digital download. The EP features two tracks: "Exploding Whale" on Side A and "Fourth of July (PPD Remix)" on Side B. "Fourth of July" originally appeared on Sufjan's album Carrie & Lowell. The artwork for the EP was created by Mike "Blacklight" Bennet. This release came shortly after the March 31, 2015 release of Carrie & Lowell.
